Beginning in 2005, MMC led a 1,600,000 sq ft landmark shopping centre expansion with Yorkdale. This included the development of a structural glass roof above the main mall and a reinvention of the typical mall experience into an urban streetscape setting.

This redevelopment of the Yorkdale Shopping Centre became a catalyst for refinishing and refurnishing the entire common area which culminated in the Southwest Expansion in 2012, with its simple yet striking design principles. Using clerestory windows, skylights, and the coordination of dynamic storefront design, the mall in keeps the high-end streetscape aesthetic of the previous redevelopment. The success of this project was reflected in the opening of new luxury retailers whom have chosen to open their first Canadian stores at Yorkdale.

Another vital part of the expansion is the two-level underground parking garage, which is accessed via a glazed escalator court. The heated garage incorporates the latest technologies, including a parking space detection system. To further add to customer convenience and comfort, a valet parking facility was also incorporated and has seen incredible success since its opening.

All of these features continue to make Yorkdale Shopping Centre the premier fashion destination in Toronto.
