SCOPE Architecture, Interiors
Londonderry Mall, known as one of Edmonton’s go-to shopping malls, started an extensive renovation and re-merchandising project in 2014 in collaboration with MMC Architects and GHA Design. The Northeast Edmonton shopping centre’s $130 million project includes full renovation of all the common areas, relocation and redesign of the food court and a complete revamp of the exterior facade, all of which provides an elevated shopping and user experience.
Among the most dramatic changes in the renovation is the shopping centre’s exterior facade. The previous concrete facade has been refinished to exude a bright and fresh exterior along with metal fins to create a dynamic architectural feature. A pedestrian bridge that was once part of the mall exterior has been removed to allow for more visibility for the existing tenants with exterior access as well as creating a more inviting face from the adjacent street.
The mall interiors feature a complete overhaul which includes new porcelain wall and floor finishes, bright and clean ceilings, new energy efficient LED lighting, washroom redesign and amenities. The renovation redefined a brand new experience for the existing clients while creating an inviting atmosphere for new shoppers.
